About the Poconos Community

The Pocono Mountains span four counties—Monroe, Pike, Wayne, and Carbon—with small towns, gated/lake communities, and year-round neighborhoods. Expect a mix of historic boroughs (Stroudsburg, Milford, Jim Thorpe), resort areas, and quiet, woodsy lanes. Local life revolves around the outdoors, weekend events, and easy day trips to NYC or the Lehigh Valley.

What to Know About Poconos Moves

⛰ Mountain Road Access

Steep grades, winding roads, and private lanes are common throughout Monroe, Pike, and Wayne Counties. We assess access before move day so the right truck and equipment show up — not the wrong ones.

🏠 Vacation vs. Primary

We handle both seasonal transitions and permanent relocations. Moving a vacation home in or out of the Poconos is a different scope than a full household move. Tell us which you need when you call.

❄ Weather Windows

Northeast PA gets significant snow. Winter moves above 1,000 feet require flexibility. We plan weather contingencies into mountain moves and communicate proactively when conditions may affect scheduling.

🚚 Distance from Philly

Stroudsburg is about 90 minutes from our Wayne, PA base via I-78 and I-80. Scranton and Wilkes-Barre run 2 to 2.5 hours. We factor drive time into scheduling and quote accordingly.

Poconos Moving FAQs

Does LiteMovers serve the Poconos and Northeast PA?
Yes. LiteMovers serves Monroe, Pike, Wayne, Carbon, Lackawanna, and Luzerne Counties. We handle moves to and from Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg, Mount Pocono, Milford, Hawley, Lake Wallenpaupack, Jim Thorpe, Scranton, and Wilkes-Barre. Our Wayne, PA base puts us about 90 minutes from Stroudsburg and 2 to 2.5 hours from Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. We are fully licensed and insured under PA PUC A-8916211 and USDOT 2173383.
Can you move a vacation home in or out of the Poconos?
Yes. We handle both vacation home moves and full permanent relocations. A seasonal transition — moving furniture and belongings between a primary home and a Poconos vacation property — is a different scope than a full household relocation, and we plan and quote each differently. When you call for an estimate, let us know which type of move you need. Many of our clients do this seasonally in spring and fall.
Are mountain roads and private lanes a problem for moving trucks?
They can be. Steep grades, unpaved lanes, tight turns, and low-clearance covered bridges exist throughout Monroe, Pike, and Wayne Counties. We ask about property access during your estimate — driveway length, grade, road surface, and any clearance restrictions. When access is limited, we select an appropriately sized truck and adjust our equipment and crew plan. Properties that a standard 26-foot truck cannot access are handled with a smaller vehicle or a shuttle approach from the nearest accessible point.
How far in advance should I book a Poconos move?
Two to four weeks out is a good target for most moves. Summer and fall weekends book faster — especially September and October when leaf season brings heavy traffic to Poconos roads. If you are moving a full household rather than a vacation home, three to four weeks minimum gives us time to schedule the right crew size and plan the access route. Winter moves require weather flexibility; we stay in communication about conditions in the days leading up to your move date.
