LiteMovers after-hours weekend office moving

Most office buildings in Greater Philadelphia do not allow tenants to move during business hours. Loading docks are reserved for deliveries. Freight elevators carry single tenants only. Property managers want the disruption confined to nights and weekends. LiteMovers built our commercial division around that reality. We hold PA PUC A-8916211 and USDOT 2173383, and the bulk of our office work happens after 6 PM Friday.

You leave Friday at 5 PM with your office packed and tagged. You return Monday at 8 AM with workstations rebuilt, IT reconnected, files in place, and the new space ready to work. That is the model — and it works for tenants from Center City high-rises to suburban office parks.

Why Weekends Are the Standard for Office Moves

  • Building rules — most Class A and Class B buildings restrict moves to off-hours
  • Freight elevator access — single-tenant use, requires pad reservation
  • Loading dock rotation — daytime is reserved for deliveries and service
  • Business continuity — your team does not lose a workday
  • IT and AV setup time — Saturday and Sunday for cable runs, monitor mounts, testing
  • Trash and packing material removal — Sunday cleanup before Monday open

A Typical Weekend Office Move

Friday 6 PM: Crews arrive at the origin building. Loading dock and freight elevator reserved. Pre-packed boxes, tagged furniture, and labeled IT closets are loaded.

Friday 11 PM: First trucks arrive at the destination building. Lobby and corridor protection installed. Workstation reassembly begins on the destination floor.

Saturday: Bulk moves continue. File rooms, libraries, art, executive offices, conference rooms. IT vendor begins cable runs and monitor mounts. Cleanup crews handle empty boxes and packing material at the origin.

Sunday: Final furniture placement, signage, fine punch list. IT testing, phone testing, printer mapping. Empty boxes removed. Common areas wiped down. Building handed back to property management.

Monday 8 AM: Your team arrives. Everything works. Files are where they belong. The kitchen has its supplies. Conference rooms are reservable. That is the deliverable.

Building Coordination We Handle

  • Loading dock window reservation at origin and destination
  • Freight elevator pads and dedicated operator scheduling
  • Building-specific COI delivery to both property managers
  • Security escort and after-hours badge clearance
  • Lobby and corridor protection — masonite, ram-board, corner guards
  • Vehicle access — staging, idling rules, dock rotation
  • Trash and packing material removal coordination

PA PUC compliance. Our pricing follows tariffs filed with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. We cannot offer promotional discounts on intrastate moves — it is a PUC regulation. We can give you an itemized written estimate and a binding not-to-exceed bid on request.

After-Hours Office Move FAQ

Do you only do weekend office moves?

Most of our office work runs Friday evening through Sunday because that is when buildings allow it. We also handle weekday early-morning windows before 7 AM for buildings that permit them, and overnight Sunday-to-Monday moves for smaller tenants. We schedule around your building’s rules, not ours.

What if our destination building has different hours than our origin?

Common situation. We split the crew so loading at the origin and unloading at the destination happen in parallel during each building’s allowed window. Two property managers, two COIs, two freight elevator reservations — all coordinated from our office before move day.

Do your crews work overnight?

Yes. Our commercial crews are scheduled for night and weekend work. We rotate teams so no one runs past safe-driving hours, and we use trucks staged at our King of Prussia warehouse for fast turnarounds. Most weekend office moves use two or three trucks and two crews running in parallel.

How do you coordinate with our IT vendor?

We move equipment and cables; your IT vendor handles network configuration and testing. We schedule our crew so the workstations are placed before IT arrives Saturday, and IT can run cables and test connections through Sunday. We can also recommend regional IT vendors we have worked with on commercial moves.

What weekends are hardest to book?

Weekends in May, June, September, and October fill first because that is when most office leases turn over. End-of-quarter weekends — late March, late June, late September, late December — also book up early. For those dates we recommend confirming four to six weeks out. Off-peak weekends can usually be scheduled with two weeks notice.
