New London Movers: Acreage Homes, Finished Basements, and the Route 1 Interchange

New London Township is the Route 1 and Route 896 interchange and the acreage around it, halfway between Oxford and Kennett Square. Custom homes on three to five acres fill the hills, with the old village on Route 896 and a few farms between. Big houses, long drives, and finished basements shape the moves here. LiteMovers has moved New London households since 2007.

New London’s custom homes call for a larger crew and a truck sized for the drive

Big Houses on Acreage

  • ✓Custom homes on three to five acres: long paved drives with turnarounds, large rooms, and finished basements
  • ✓Pool tables and home gyms: disassembled, wrapped, and rebuilt at the new house
  • ✓The village on Route 896: older homes closer to the road with shorter drives
  • ✓The interchange: the area’s gateway to Newark and Wilmington, busy at rush hour

Addresses read New London (19360), Lincoln University (19352), or Landenberg (19350). For the Kemblesville side of Route 896, see Franklin. For the Landenberg hills, see London Britain. For Jennersville, see Penn.

Sizing the Crew for the House

A New London custom home is a big move. Think four or five bedrooms, a finished lower level, a three-car garage, and a deck full of furniture. We staff a larger crew and bring the right number of wardrobe boxes. The load is planned so the basement comes off first at the new house. Pool tables and gym racks are disassembled, wrapped, and rebuilt by the same crew.

Need the house packed too? Chester County packing boxes a five-bedroom home in a day, labeled by room.

Long Drives and Turnarounds

Most New London drives are paved and built for a truck, with a turnaround at the house. We check the radius and any low branches on the estimate so a 26-foot truck can come in nose first and leave the same way. The few older farm lanes with gravel get a shorter truck. In winter we start later so the drives have thawed.

The Interchange and Timing

Route 896 backs up at the Route 1 interchange southbound in the morning and northbound in the evening. That is the area commuting to Newark and Wilmington. We load early and travel between the peaks. Route 1 itself is limited-access and quick. For Delaware moves, see moving to Delaware; we are licensed for the crossing.

Avon Grove Schools and Storage

New London is in the Avon Grove School District, and summer dates book three to four weeks out. Custom-home closings slip, so our Chester County storage holds the household on one inventory until the keys are real. Downsizing families use our senior moving team, and pieces not making the trip go to donation.

New London borders Franklin, London Britain, London Grove, Penn, and Lower Oxford. Every township is on our Chester County movers hub.

New London Moving Questions

Where is New London Township?

Where Route 896 meets Route 1, halfway between Oxford and Kennett Square. Mail reads New London (19360), Lincoln University (19352), or Landenberg (19350). The village of New London sits on Route 896 south of the interchange, with custom homes on acreage all around it.

What kind of homes are in New London?

Mostly custom homes on three to five acres built in the last twenty-five years, plus older farms and the village itself. Driveways are long and paved, houses are large, and basements are finished. We size the crew for a big house and the truck for a long drive.

Which school district is New London in?

Avon Grove School District, with Avon Grove Intermediate and the new high school a short drive north. Families time moves for summer and late August, and those dates book three to four weeks out. Spring and fall are easier.

Is the Route 1 and 896 interchange a factor on move day?

Only at rush hour. The interchange is the gateway to Newark and Wilmington for the whole area. Route 896 backs up southbound in the morning and northbound in the evening. We load early and travel between the peaks. Route 1 itself is limited-access and easy.

Do you move finished basements and home gyms?

Yes. New London’s larger homes have finished lower levels with sectionals, pool tables, and gym equipment. We disassemble pool tables and gym racks, wrap the slate and the plates, and reassemble at the new home. Basement stairs are measured on the estimate.

Can your truck handle a long paved driveway with a turnaround?

Yes. Most New London drives are built for it. We check the turnaround radius and any low branches on the estimate, and bring a shorter truck for the few lanes that need one. Gravel sections near older farmhouses are noted so the truck stays on firm ground.
