Westtown is where West Chester’s suburbs meet the old farm landscape. Stone farmhouses from the 1700s sit a quarter mile from subdivisions finished last year, with Westtown School’s 600-acre campus in the middle. Moving here means two sets of skills on the same crew: careful old-house handling and efficient HOA work. LiteMovers brings both.

The Westtown Landscape
Route 926, Street Road, runs east to west through the township. Westtown Road and Route 352 cross it north to south. West Chester Pike, Route 3, forms the northern edge with the Route 3 corridor of shopping and newer homes. Oakbourne Park, with its historic mansion and water tower, is the landmark most residents use. The township is in the West Chester Area School District and feeds Rustin High School.
- ✓Historic farmhouses: stone houses with tight stairs, low beams, and plaster that chips if you rush
- ✓Westtown School: a Quaker boarding school with campus housing and its own access rules
- ✓Newer subdivisions: HOA communities off Route 926 and Westtown Road with hour limits and COI requirements
- ✓Route 3 corridor: 1960s ranches and newer infill with easy driveway access
Old House, Old Rules
The farmhouses are why Westtown moves take longer than a comparable move in a newer township. Winder stairs do not allow a turn with a dresser in hand. Doorways built for 1750 furniture do not clear a modern sofa. Wide-plank floors scratch. Our crews measure the openings first, disassemble tall pieces in the hall, and lay runners and masonite before the first piece moves.
New Construction and HOA Moves
The subdivisions are easier on the truck and stricter on paper. Several Westtown HOAs limit moves to weekday hours and require a certificate of insurance naming the association. Some new-construction streets still have builder traffic and no finished curb. We ask for the HOA rules when you book and plan the truck spot around the construction.

Timing Your Westtown Move
The West Chester Area School District calendar pushes families toward late June and the second half of August. Westtown School’s own calendar adds faculty moves in June and late August. September through early November is the easiest window for crews and for Route 926 traffic. A mid-week date gives you the first pick.
Senior Moves and Downsizing
A good share of Westtown moves are parents leaving the farmhouse after forty years. Our senior moving team works in short sessions, packs what is going, and sets up the new residence the same day. What stays behind for family, sale, or donation is handled by our cleanout crew, so the house is ready to list.
Neighboring Towns We Serve
Westtown borders East Goshen, West Goshen, and Willistown, with West Chester borough just north. Every town is listed on the Chester County movers hub. Need help packing a farmhouse? See packing services.
Westtown Moving Questions
Do you move faculty and families at Westtown School?
Yes. Westtown School’s campus housing has its own access rules and a tight loop road. We coordinate the arrival time with the school and bring a truck that fits. We have moved faculty in at the start of the school year and out in June.
My Westtown house is an old stone farmhouse. How do you protect it?
With more padding and more time. We guard door frames and banisters and lay masonite on original floors. Tall pieces come apart in the hall instead of forcing a turn on winder stairs. Narrow doorways get measured before the big pieces come out.
Are Westtown’s newer developments hard for trucks?
Usually not. The subdivisions off Route 926 and Westtown Road have wide streets and driveways. The one thing to check is the HOA. Several limit moving hours and ask for a certificate of insurance, which we send ahead of time.
When is the best time to move in Westtown?
Late spring and September through early November. Westtown is in the West Chester Area School District and feeds Rustin High, so late August is crowded. If a June closing is fixed, book a month ahead.
Can you move me into or out of Oakbourne or the Route 3 corridor?
Yes. The homes near Oakbourne Park and the West Chester Pike corridor range from 1960s ranches to new construction. Each has normal driveway access. We bring the right truck for the street and plan around Route 3 traffic.
Do you offer storage while we renovate a Westtown farmhouse?
Yes. Renovations on older Westtown homes run long, and our vaulted storage in King of Prussia holds furniture on one inventory until the work is done. We deliver the day you are ready.
