Professional Packing & Unpacking on the Main Line
From fragile kitchens to whole-home packs, our trained packers save you days of work and reduce breakage — so move day runs smoothly.
Packing is the most time-consuming part of any move. It’s also where most damage happens — usually before the truck arrives. LiteMovers has been packing Main Line homes since 2007. Our trained packing teams arrive with every box, every roll of tape, and every sheet of packing paper your move needs. You don’t buy a single supply. You don’t pack a single dish. We do the work that keeps your fragile items intact, your furniture protected, and your move day on schedule.
Whether you need full-home packing for a 4-bedroom estate, fragile-only service for the china and crystal, or just a wardrobe transfer for your closets, we scale the crew and the materials to fit the job. Every box is labeled by room. Every fragile item gets the right carton and the right cushioning. Every move ends with a final walkthrough so nothing gets left behind.
Packing Options That Fit Your Move
Not every move needs the same packing service. Most clients mix and match. Here are the four packages we offer and when each one makes sense.
Full-Service Packing
The complete pack. Every room, every closet, every drawer. Our crew arrives the day before (or sometimes morning-of) and packs your entire home from top to bottom. Common for busy professionals, families with kids, anyone short on time, and full-estate moves. Typical 3-4 bedroom home takes 1-2 days.
Kitchen & Fragile-Only
You pack the easy stuff. We pack the breakables. China, crystal, stemware, dishes, vases, ceramics, picture frames, mirrors, electronics. The most damage-prone items get professional handling while you keep control of the rest. The most popular partial-pack option on the Main Line.
Closet & Wardrobe Service
Hanging clothes transfer from your closet straight into wardrobe boxes — no folding, no wrinkling, no laundry to redo at the new house. We deliver to your new closet and pull everything out hanging-ready. A small service that saves enormous time and frustration.
Specialty & Custom Crating
Artwork, sculptures, oversized mirrors, antique furniture, grand pianos, wine collections, and high-value collectibles. Custom-built crates, climate-conscious wrapping, and proven techniques for items insurance won’t replace. Common on Gladwyne estate moves and senior downsizings.
Quality Supplies We Use
Most damage during a move comes from the wrong box or the wrong cushioning — not from the truck ride. We bring professional-grade materials sized correctly for each item. Here’s what shows up with our packing crew:
- Small (1.5 cu ft) book boxes
- Medium (3.0 cu ft) general purpose
- Large (4.5 cu ft) bedding & pillows
- Extra-large (6.0 cu ft) lightweight bulky items
- Double-wall reinforced boxes for fragiles
- Wardrobe boxes with hanging bar
- Dish pack barrels with cell dividers
- Picture & mirror cartons (telescoping)
- TV crates with foam inserts
- Lamp cartons with extra protection
- Packing paper (newsprint & tissue)
- Bubble wrap (small & large cell)
- Foam corner protectors
- Stretch wrap & shrink film
- Mattress bags (king/queen/full/twin)
- Custom-built wooden crates
- Piano boards & padding
- Antique furniture pads
- Floor runners & door jamb pads
- Heavy-duty packing tape
Need supplies without the full packing service? We sell professional-grade boxes and materials by the piece or by the room kit. Contact our Wayne office for current pricing.
Our Labeling & Organization System
A great pack is wasted if the boxes can’t be found at the new house. Our crews use a room-by-room labeling system on every box:
- Room destination printed clearly on the top and one side of every box (kitchen, master bedroom, kid 1 bedroom, etc.)
- Contents summary for fragile and priority cartons (Master BR — bedside lamp, books, alarm clock)
- Color-coded tags available on request, matched to a floor plan of your new home
- “OPEN FIRST” cartons packed last and unloaded first — bedding, toilet paper, coffee maker, basic tools
- Fragile stickers on every breakable carton with handling instructions for the moving crew
- Inventory list with carton counts by room, provided to you and to the move foreman
This is why our unloads run faster than other companies. The crew knows where every box goes the moment they pick it up.
After-Move Setup & Unpacking
The pack is half the job. The unpack is the other half — and the part most movers won’t do well. LiteMovers offers full unpacking service that gets your home livable the same day the truck arrives:
What Full Unpacking Includes
- Every box opened, contents removed, and items placed in designated locations
- Kitchen unpacked first — dishes in cabinets, pots in drawers, pantry stocked
- Beds reassembled and made up with sheets if requested
- Closets hung — wardrobe boxes emptied and hanging clothes transferred
- Bathrooms set up — towels, toiletries, medicine cabinet contents in place
- Furniture placed according to your floor plan
- All packing paper, bubble wrap, and used cartons removed and recycled
- Final walkthrough to confirm everything is where you want it
Don’t want full unpacking? We also offer partial unpacking (kitchen + master bedroom only is popular) and post-move box pickup, where we return a week or two after the move to collect your empty cartons for recycling.
How a Packing Day Actually Works
Most clients have never used professional packers and don’t know what to expect. Here’s exactly how packing day goes:
For a typical 3-4 bedroom Main Line home, full packing takes 1-2 days. Larger estates with art and antiques may need 2-3 days. We’ll give you a realistic estimate during the walkthrough.
Why Professional Packing Costs Less Than DIY (Eventually)
Most clients balk at the cost of professional packing — until they price out what DIY actually costs. Here’s the real comparison:
- 40-80 hours of your time (more for fragile-heavy homes)
- $300-$800 in boxes and supplies bought retail
- Multiple trips to U-Haul, Home Depot, or Amazon for materials
- Higher breakage rate (industry data suggests 3-5x higher than professional packs)
- Boxes packed inconsistently, leading to slower unloads and lost items
- Disposal of used materials after the move
Professional packing folds time savings, supply costs, and breakage prevention into one number. For most Main Line homes, professional packing pays for itself in saved time alone — never mind the broken stemware you didn’t lose.
Pennsylvania Tariff Pricing — No Surprises
LiteMovers files our packing labor rates and supply prices with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission under license A-8916211. We charge published tariff rates. No discounts, no specials, no flat-rate gimmicks. That’s not a sales pitch — it’s PA state law. What you get instead is the 110% rule: if the final bill exceeds the written estimate by more than 10%, the mover must deliver your belongings on payment of the estimate plus 10%. That protection is built into Pennsylvania law specifically to keep customers from getting blindsided on move day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I pack some items myself and have you pack the rest?
Absolutely. Mix-and-match packing is one of our most popular options. Most clients pack the easy stuff — books, linens, shoes, decor — and have us handle the breakable, time-consuming, or high-value items. Kitchens, china cabinets, picture walls, electronics, and closets are the most common partial-pack requests. We’ll walk through your home and tell you exactly what we recommend packing versus what you can handle yourself.
How long does packing a typical Main Line home take?
A 3-4 bedroom home with average contents takes one full packing day (8-9 hours) for a 2-3 person crew. Larger 4-5 bedroom homes or estates with extensive china, art, and antiques typically take 1.5 to 2 days. Whole-estate moves with custom crating may run 2-3 days. We always schedule packing the day before your move, so everything is loaded and ready when the moving crew arrives.
Do you label boxes by room?
Yes. Every box is labeled with the room it came from, a content summary for fragile or priority items, and a fragile sticker when applicable. We also generate a room-by-room carton count inventory that goes to you and to the moving crew foreman. This is why our unloads run faster — the crew knows where every box belongs the moment they pick it up.
Will you remove used boxes and packing materials after the move?
Yes. We offer post-move box pickup for clients in our service area. After you’ve unpacked, we return to your new home, collect all the used cartons and packing paper, and recycle everything. Pickup is typically scheduled 1-3 weeks after move day, depending on how quickly you unpack. Ask about availability when you book.
Do you provide custom crating for artwork and antiques?
Yes. We build custom wooden crates for paintings, sculptures, mirrors, oversized art, antique furniture, and other high-value items where standard packing isn’t enough. Custom crates are built to spec and protect against shock, compression, and climate changes. This is a common service on Gladwyne, Villanova, and Bryn Mawr estate moves. The cost is quoted separately during your in-home estimate.
Can you pack a home in one day if my move is on short notice?
Often, yes. Small to medium homes can be packed in a single day with a properly sized crew. We’ve packed 3-bedroom apartments and condos in 6-8 hours when needed. Last-minute packing depends on crew availability, so call as early as you can. Last-minute moves are one of our specialties — we plan around your timeline.
