LiteMovers has been moving suburban Philadelphia apartments since 2007. We work in luxury high-rises in Conshohocken, garden-style communities in King of Prussia, walk-ups in Ardmore, and student rentals near Bryn Mawr. We are licensed under PA PUC A-8916211 and USDOT 2173383, fully insured, and trusted by the Main Line’s top property managers.
Apartment moves have rules that house moves do not. Buildings ask for Certificates of Insurance. Elevators must be reserved. Loading docks have time windows. Some streets need parking permits. Our office handles all of this for you before move day. That is why apartment dwellers across Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, and Bucks counties pick LiteMovers.

How We Handle Apartment Building Requirements
Most apartment buildings have their own move-in rules. Skip a step and the property manager can turn your truck away. Our office staff manages the paperwork side of every move so nothing slows you down on the day.
✓ Certificates of Insurance (COI): We send a building-specific COI to your property manager before move day. Most buildings need it 48 to 72 hours in advance. We have COIs already on file for most major Main Line communities.
✓ Elevator Reservations: We confirm your elevator window with the building and pad the elevator on arrival. Read more about elevator and loading dock reservations.
✓ Loading Dock Coordination: Our trucks fit standard suburban loading docks. We confirm dock height and clearance during the estimate so your truck does not get turned away.
✓ Parking Permits: For street-level walk-ups and townhomes without dedicated parking, we coordinate municipal parking permits where needed.
✓ Floor & Wall Protection: We use Masonite floor runners, corner guards, and door jamb protection in every hallway and elevator we use.
Studio, One-Bedroom, Two-Bedroom & High-Rise Moves
Every apartment move is different. A studio in a third-floor walk-up takes a different crew size than a two-bedroom luxury high-rise with a freight elevator. Our estimators size the crew and truck to your unit and your building.
| Apartment Type | Typical Crew | Move Time |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | 2 movers | 2 to 4 hours |
| One-bedroom | 2 to 3 movers | 3 to 5 hours |
| Two-bedroom | 3 movers | 4 to 6 hours |
| Luxury high-rise (1-2 BR) | 3 to 4 movers | 4 to 7 hours |
| Walk-up (3rd floor or higher) | 3 movers | Add 1 to 2 hours |

Apartment Movers FAQ
What is a Certificate of Insurance and why does my building need one?
A Certificate of Insurance, or COI, is a document that proves your moving company carries valid liability and cargo insurance. Most apartment buildings on the Main Line and across the Philadelphia suburbs require a COI before they will let movers into the building. The document names the building owner and management company as additional insured parties for the move date. LiteMovers issues building-specific COIs the same day you book, and we send the document directly to your property manager.
How far in advance should I book my apartment move?
Book at least two to three weeks ahead for a weekday move and four to six weeks ahead for a weekend or end-of-month move. Apartment buildings often only allow one move per elevator per day, so calendar slots fill up fast at the start and end of every month. If you are inside a tight window, call us anyway. We keep some flex capacity for short-notice moves and can usually find a way to make it work.
Do you move studios and small apartments?
Yes. Studios and one-bedroom apartments are some of our most common jobs. A typical studio move takes two movers and two to four hours. We bring the right size truck for the job, plus pads, dollies, and shrink wrap. Small apartment moves still get the full COI, elevator reservation, and floor protection treatment that larger moves get.
How do you handle elevator reservations and loading docks?
Once you book, our office contacts your building to confirm the elevator window and dock height. We pad the elevator on arrival to protect the cab walls. If the building requires a key fob or escort, we coordinate that with your property manager. For buildings without a freight elevator, we plan the move around stair access and add crew where needed.
Can you pack my apartment too?
Yes. We offer full packing, partial packing, and fragile-only packing through our packing services. Most apartment customers go with partial packing: we handle the kitchen, glassware, artwork, and electronics, and you pack the soft goods. We bring all materials including boxes, paper, bubble wrap, and tape.
