What a Main Line Apartment Move Actually Involves
The Main Line is not one kind of housing stock. It runs from prewar walk-ups above the shops on Lancaster Avenue to new elevator buildings a block from the SEPTA platform.
Each of those needs a different plan. Here is what changes from town to town.
Walk-ups and converted homes
Narberth, Ardmore and parts of Wynnewood have a lot of second and third floor units carved out of older houses. Stairwells are narrow. Turns at the landing are tight.
We measure the turn before the truck is loaded, not after. Box springs and sectional sofas are the usual problem pieces. Sometimes the answer is a hoist, sometimes it is disassembly.
Elevator buildings
Bala Cynwyd, Ardmore and Radnor have the highest concentration of true elevator buildings on the corridor. Nearly all of them require a reserved elevator window and a certificate of insurance.

Condos and townhome communities
Devon, Berwyn and Paoli lean toward townhome and condo communities with HOA rules. Some limit moving hours. Some restrict where a truck can park.
Those rules are worth reading before your move date. We will help you find them if you have not seen them yet.

Parking and Access Along Lancaster Avenue
Truck access is the single most common thing that slows a Main Line apartment move. It is also the easiest to solve in advance.
Lower Merion Township requires a permit for temporary parking meter bagging in its business districts. That covers most of Ardmore, Bala Cynwyd and Narberth.
Radnor and Tredyffrin handle it differently. In many spots the building’s own loading zone is enough, but it has to be reserved with management first.
We walk through the specific address with you when you book. It takes five minutes and it prevents the most expensive kind of delay.
Timing Your Move Around the Main Line Calendar
Two rhythms drive demand here. The first is the university calendar. Villanova, Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Rosemont all turn over within the same few weeks.
Late August is the tightest window of the year on this corridor. If you are moving then, book early.
The second is the standard lease cycle. The last Friday of any month is the busiest single day in the moving business. A Tuesday move in the middle of the month is a calmer day for everyone.

Do you handle small apartment moves on the Main Line, or only whole houses?
Small apartment moves are where LiteMovers started in 2007, and they are still a large share of what we do every week. A studio or one-bedroom on the Main Line is a routine booking, not an exception we squeeze in. We send a crew and truck sized to the load rather than pushing every job toward a full-house crew.
Which Main Line towns do you cover for apartment moves?

Can you move me between two apartments in the same building?
Yes. In-building and building-to-building transfers are common on the Main Line, especially in the larger Ardmore and Bala Cynwyd communities. These moves still need an elevator reservation and a certificate of insurance in most buildings, so we treat them with the same paperwork and protection as any other move.
How much notice do you need for a Main Line apartment move?
Two to three weeks gives you the widest choice of dates, and end-of-month Fridays fill first. That said, short-notice apartment moves are a normal part of our week. A single phone call will tell you within a few minutes whether we can fit your date, so it is always worth asking even if the move is days away.
