Welcome. If you are planning a move in or out of West Chester, we want to make it easier. This page walks through how a West Chester move with LiteMovers actually works, what the crew sizes look like, and where we can help you save time and money. If you would rather just talk to someone, the office line is (610) 755-5535 and a real person answers it during business hours.
LiteMovers is family-owned and has been serving the Greater Philadelphia region since 2007. Our crews know West Chester block by block — the Gay Street parking rules, the gates at Hershey’s Mill, the elevator quirks at downtown apartments, the long driveways out in the Bradford townships. Whatever kind of West Chester move you have, we have done it before.
How Big Is the Crew for My Move?
We size the crew to the move, not the other way around. You should not pay for four movers when two will do the job comfortably. Here is what to expect:
- Studio apartment: Two movers, four-hour minimum. Most studios are done in the minimum.
- One or two-bedroom apartment: Three movers, four-hour minimum. One-bedrooms usually take four to five hours; two-bedrooms five to seven.
- Three-bedroom house: Four movers, most of a day. If the basement and attic are full, we may bring a fifth.
- Four or five-bedroom or larger home: Four to five movers, full day. Larger homes near Hershey’s Mill or out in the Bradford townships sometimes spill into a second day, but we tell you that ahead of time.
Every move starts with a free survey — usually a quick virtual walkthrough or an in-person visit if you prefer. You will get a written estimate that lists crew size, hours, and any materials before you ever commit to a date.
Moving Into or Out of a West Chester Apartment
The walkable borough core has more apartment buildings than most people realize, plus the newer communities scattered around the WCU corridor and out toward Westtown. We move in and out of all of them. Here are the buildings we know well, with guides for each:
→ New Kent Apartments
→ Corner Park Apartments
→ Village at Windermere
→ Jefferson at Westtown
→ Chestnut Square
→ Beckon Collective
→ Metropolitan Apartments
→ Golf Club Apartments
→ Zukin Realty Properties
If your building requires a Certificate of Insurance before move day (most do), we will email it directly to your property manager 48 to 72 hours ahead at no charge. If there is a freight elevator to reserve or a loading dock with a tight window, we coordinate that for you too. Just tell us your building during the survey and we will take care of the paperwork.
Moving Into a New West Chester Home
Three-bedroom in East Bradford. Four-bedroom in West Goshen. A brand-new build that closes the same week your kids start school. We move West Chester families every week year-round, and many of them come to us from a Realtor or from a neighbor who used us before.
If you are moving into one of the newer West Chester developments, we have specific guides for those communities too:
A few things we have learned that make family moves easier:
- Partial-pack saves the most stress. We handle the kitchen, the fragile items, and the closets. You pack the easy stuff. Most families tell us this is what they wish they had done from the start.
- Storage between closings. Closings slip. If you need a few weeks of breathing room, we load on the originally planned day, hold everything safely in our warehouse, and redeliver when the new place is ready.
- Donations and junk removal on move day. Whatever does not make the cut, we can haul off and donate so you start fresh in the new house.
Moving to a West Chester Senior Community
Helping families through a senior move is some of the most meaningful work we do. Whether you are moving a parent out of a long-time family home, downsizing into a one-bedroom villa, or transitioning to memory care, we go at your pace. Our crews are patient, careful, and trained for the unique parts of a senior move — sorting through decades of belongings, working with property managers and care staff, and setting up the new place so the bed is made and the kitchen is functional by the end of the day.
We move into the West Chester area senior communities regularly. Here are guides for the ones we know best:
→ Wellington at Hershey’s Mill
→ Bellingham at West Chester
→ Barclay Friends
→ The Hickman
→ Sunrise of Westtown
→ Arbor Terrace Willistown
→ Merrill Gardens at West Chester
For families who want the full white-glove downsizing experience — sorting, organizing, donating, packing, and setting up the new home — we partner with Rightsize Relocation, a NASMM-certified senior move management firm based right here in West Chester. Together we handle every piece of the transition so families do not have to coordinate a half-dozen vendors during what is already an emotional time.
Why West Chester Families Come Back
“My second experience was as excellent as my first one.”

That review is on our site because it speaks to what we are really trying to be: a moving company you can call again. Most of our West Chester customers find us through a Realtor, a neighbor, or a family member who used us before. Crew members like Eric, Ed M., Nathan, Justin, Jorge, Nestor, Dar, Damian, and Alex have been with LiteMovers for years — they are W-2 employees with benefits, not day labor, and they take care of your things because they are accountable to the same name on the truck.
If You Are Working With a West Chester Realtor
If you found us through your Realtor or are planning to ask them for a moving recommendation, we have partner programs with most of the major West Chester real estate offices. Your agent may already work with us:
→ Keller Williams Brandywine Valley
→ Long & Foster West Chester
→ RE/MAX West Chester
→ Weichert Realtors West Chester
→ Realtor Partner Program
We can also help with pre-listing prep before your home goes on the market — clearing out closets, removing furniture for staging, and storing what you do not want in the showing photos.
The West Chester Areas We Move Most
Gay Street and the borough core. The walkable downtown. We pull a no-parking permit through the Borough of West Chester two business days ahead when needed, so the truck has space at the curb without ticketing.
The WCU corridor. The blocks near West Chester University. Late May and late August are busy with faculty, staff, and grad student moves. We start booking those weeks early.
East and West Bradford townships. Three to four-bedroom single-family homes on quarter to half-acre lots. Driveways accommodate our trucks easily and basements fill up — those are usually full-day moves with a four-person crew.
West Goshen and Westtown. Mid-sized family homes, often two-story colonials. WCASD families anchor most of the summer demand.
Hershey’s Mill, the Bradford estates, and the senior communities. Steady year-round downsizing work, plus the families helping parents into a community for the first time.
Coming From or Heading To a Nearby Town
Most West Chester moves connect to another nearby town — coming in from Downingtown or Exton, or heading out to Wayne or Devon for the schools. We move across the surrounding Main Line and Chester County corridor every day:
Common Questions From West Chester Customers
What size crew comes for a West Chester move?
Crew size scales to the size of your move. A studio runs a two-person crew with a four-hour minimum. A one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartment uses three movers. A three-bedroom family home with a full basement is a four-person job, sometimes five if the basement and attic are heavily loaded. Your survey will tell you exactly what your move needs before move day, so there is no guessing at the curb.
How far in advance should I book?
Two weeks ahead is plenty for spring and summer moves, and one week is usually enough in winter. We can sometimes fit a same-week move in slow season. If your timeline is tight, just call us at (610) 755-5535. We will tell you honestly whether we have a crew available, and if we cannot help, we will say so.
Will my furniture fit through my doorways?
That is one of the first things we check during your free survey. Many West Chester borough apartments and historic homes have older doorways and stair turns that are narrower than modern furniture. Sectional sofas, king-size box springs, and large wardrobes sometimes need partial disassembly. We measure during the survey, plan ahead with you, and bring the tools and pads needed to handle it cleanly. There are no surprises on move day.
What if my closing date slips?
Closings slip. It happens almost weekly somewhere on our schedule. LiteMovers runs a climate-monitored warehouse with vault storage, which means we can load your belongings on the originally planned day, hold them safely for a week or three months, and redeliver when the new place is ready. One company, one continuous bill, no separate self-storage unit to rent and load twice.
Do you provide a Certificate of Insurance for my building?
Yes. Most apartment communities in West Chester require a Certificate of Insurance before move day, usually 48 to 72 hours ahead. We email the COI directly to your property manager, name the building owner and management company as additional insured, and confirm receipt. There is no charge. If your building has additional requirements like custom coverage minimums, just let us know during booking and we will handle it.
Can you help with packing?
Yes, at whatever level you want. Full pack means we box everything in your home the day before move day. Partial pack means we handle the kitchen, fragile items, and closets while you pack the easy stuff like books and linens. Box-only means we deliver materials and you pack yourself. Most folks pick partial pack because it is the best balance of time and budget. Boxes, paper, tape, wardrobe boxes, and mattress bags are all included when we pack.
Do you move into senior living communities in West Chester?
Yes, regularly. Hershey’s Mill, Wellington at Hershey’s Mill, Bellingham, Barclay Friends, The Hickman, Arbor Terrace Willistown, Merrill Gardens, Sunrise of Westtown, and others. Each community has its own gate codes, move-in windows, and HOA rules, and we know them. For families who want full downsizing help from sorting through closets to setting up the new place, we partner with Rightsize Relocation, a NASMM-certified senior move management company based right here in West Chester.
