Last-Minute Packing Help: Same-Week & Next-Day Packing
When the timeline shrinks and there is too much to pack. How fast we can move and what fits in the days you have left.
The move is sooner than you thought. Maybe the closing date moved up. Maybe work transferred you faster than planned. Maybe you just ran out of weekends. The kitchen is full, the closets are full, and the move is in a week. Here is how last-minute packing works.
When last-minute packing is the right call
- ✓ The closing date moved up and you have less time than planned
- ✓ A work transfer accelerated your timeline
- ✓ You underestimated how long packing actually takes
- ✓ You started packing and ran out of energy halfway through
- ✓ A family emergency made you the move planner
- ✓ You just have too much to do and packing is the part to outsource
What we can do in a few days
Full pack
Everything in your home gets packed. Closets, kitchens, bathrooms, basements, attics. We bring boxes, paper, tape, and specialty materials. We label every box with room of origin and contents. Most homes take 1-3 days depending on size and the crew assigned.
Partial pack (finish what you started)
You did the books and the kid’s room. The kitchen and the living room are still untouched. We come in and finish. Common areas we get called for: kitchens, china cabinets, bathrooms, garages, basements.
Fragile-only pack
You will handle the easy stuff. We handle the kitchen, the artwork, the lamps, and the mirrors. Less expensive than a full pack, but the fragile items are professionally packed.
Pack-and-move same day
For smaller homes. Crew packs in the morning, loads in the afternoon. Works for studios, one-bedrooms, and minimalist two-bedrooms.
How fast we can actually move
Honest timeline:
Same-day: Sometimes, depending on crew availability. Call us.
Next-day: Often available, especially weekdays.
This week: Almost always available.
Within 2 weeks: Always available.
The honest answer for any specific job is a phone call. We will tell you what is realistic.
How to prep for last-minute packing
You do not need to do much. The crew brings everything. A few things help, though:
- Set aside an “essentials” box you will pack yourself: medications, passports, chargers, a change of clothes
- Identify items not to pack: things going with you in the car, items being donated or junked
- Empty and unplug appliances if they are coming with you
- Walk through the home with the crew lead when they arrive so everyone is on the same page
- Stay reachable during the pack — questions come up
What gets packed and how
- Kitchens: dish-pack boxes for china and stemware, paper-wrapped, layered
- Closets: wardrobe boxes with hanging rods
- Books: small boxes (paper is dense; large boxes get too heavy)
- Art and mirrors: mirror boxes with foam corners; high-value pieces get crated
- Electronics: original boxes when available; specialty boxes when not
- Linens and clothes: medium or large boxes; light items fill awkward spaces in furniture
Every box gets labeled with room of origin, contents summary, and “FRAGILE” or “THIS SIDE UP” where it applies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you pack my home in one day?
For most homes, yes. A two-bedroom apartment typically takes a crew of 2-3 packers a full day. A three-bedroom home usually takes a crew of 3-4 over 1-2 days. Single rooms or kitchens-only jobs can be done in a few hours. We send the crew size that fits the timeline.
Do you do same-day or next-day packing?
Sometimes, depending on availability. Same-day packing is harder to schedule because the crew has to be free that exact day. Next-day and same-week packing is much more reliable. If you are in a true emergency — closing date moved up, work transfer accelerated — call us; we will tell you honestly what we can do.
What if I have already started packing and just need help finishing?
Common situation. We pick up where you left off. The kitchen, the dishes, the artwork, the closets — whatever is left. We bring our own packing materials and finish the job. Tell us at the estimate what is done and what is not.
Do you provide the boxes and packing materials?
Yes. Our packing service includes boxes, paper, tape, wardrobe boxes, mattress bags, and any specialty packing materials needed. Pricing follows our PA PUC tariff for packing materials. We bring more than you will need, and you only pay for what we use.
Can you pack and move on the same day?
For small homes, yes. We can pack in the morning and load in the afternoon. For larger homes, packing usually happens 1-2 days before move day so the loading day stays focused on the move itself. We will give you an honest assessment of what fits in a single day at the estimate.
